ABOUT MY STUDY PROGRAM

 

When I was a child, my dream job was to be a doctor, I always played it by scratching my twin sister as if I were operating on her, but over time I realized that I was not able to see other people's blood, so discard that option. Later, after finishing school, I wanted to study something related to the environment as an environmental engineer, but I only got enough for environmental biology at the University of Chile.

When I entered the career of environmental biology over time I realized that it was not my thing, I did not know what it was going to be when I graduated, there was also no work field in environmental sciences, so I decided to leave the career and prepare for to be able to study something that I really wanted.

I started researching a career in which I knew what it was going to be like when I graduated and where I could contribute to the community by being a professional. Until an acquaintance mentions the Food Engineering career at the University of Chile and guides me in a way that I liked the career, so I applied and was selected.

Being in this career I realized that I like it even more, especially because I am interested in doing something related to the environment, contributing from my profession. I am interested in researching food packaging in order to make them more environmentally friendly or simply contributing to human health.

Hello!

I present myself.. My name is Catalina and I was born in 2000 in the city of La Serena. When I was younger, I lived in Santiago with my mom and sister to be with my dad, since he worked in Santiago,  but a while later we returned to the city of La serena, because my dad got sick with Cancer and wanted to spend his last time there... Now I lived in Santiago again for the university.

I'm studying food engineering and I would like to specialize in the area of research and see how to improve types of packaging or products to make them more environmentally friendly and human health. It's a dream hahaha.

My family is made up of my mom, my three older brothers, Alejandro (33 years old), Maximiliano (29 years old) and Rodrigo (27 years old), then comes my twin sister and I, both 20 years old. PD: my sister is older than me for 2 minutes.

In my free time, I like to go cycling and touring Santiago, I also like to go walking and play voleyball with my cousin.. they are some of my favorite hobbies, but I can't do them because of the pandemic ;(, I also like to play ukelele and play sports at home and from time to watch series or movies. Now I like the pastry, how to make cakes of different flavors.

Another thing I can tell you, is that I've been a vegetarian for more than 4 years and I like to talk about interesting topics and discuss current events :)
